I have to say that I was thoroughly unimpressed. This story had lots of potential but it did not do much with it. It was a
quick read that did not do much to challenge the reader. Although the story contains many astrophysical and biological terms,
the book gives enough explanation to help the lay-reader along (including an isometric map of their destination). The use of
biological engineering as the future of humanity was an intriguing aspect of the book it did not help enough.
I think I have a Gripe or two in me this month.
| Gripe #1: "It's a madhouse... a MADHOUSE!!" | The characters are psychos! Now, I enjoy characters with depth but giving a mental aberration to each character is a bit much. It might have been better if the book was truly about the crew and their problems. |
| Gripe #2: "Ludicrous speed" | It WOULD take a crew of crazies to decide to abandon the Earth to chase something that has 250 years to leave or die. I understand the companies decision to send a expedition with such a worthless crew. |
