Overall
A hell of a book, filled with memorable characters and one truly amazing legend.
Druss, the main character stands tall and striking as the title suggests.
He is a true living legend amidst a group of desolate foot soldiers convinced they're going to their deaths.
Even Druss, the incomparable master of the axe does not believe they have a chance, yet he leaves his comfortable
retirement to help a friend and charges into glorious battle one last time. David Gemmell paints his characters and
his world with such clarity that one can smell the battle and see the crows over head. Legend is a superior work of
fiction worthy of accolades greater than my own. Four stars hardly does this book justice, there are a few very minor
flaws, i.e. suspension of disbelief with some characters. However, the book stands up. Brava.
