This was an above average books that definitly had its good and bad points. I would say the
characters were overall a good point. Each character was unique and indepedent from the others.
The complexity used to break up the different styles of magic was also a good point for me.
The specialization by element gives each mage a sense of identity. It also creates limitations
in the character that cause them to develop further.
Bad points would include most of the plot. The love interests were so obvious that could figure out what the author intended for them at the start. The motivation of the Antagonists were superficial at best. Even though I considered the hampering of the old magical style with new magic a good point, the fact that the old magic didn't effect the new magic the same way was a bad point.
