Reviews

For Us, the Living is a thought-provoking read with many interesting concepts presented for the reader's consideration. Unfortunately, that's all it is. The story is nearly forgotten in the presentation of ideas. The plot is practically non- existant and the characters are all static and two-dimensional.

Gripes

Gripe #1: "When this baby hits 55 MPH..." The whole issue of his appearing in the future is unbelievable. The most time the author spent on this little fact (so little the book couldn't exist without it) is a line or two in the middle of the book. Even then, it's an off-handed comment referencing a conversation we were not privy to.
Gripe #2: Florence Nightingale Syndrome The blossoming romance between Perry and Diana is way to easy. I was not convinced that a girl from such a society could fall in love so quickly, especially with a "Barbarian".
Gripe #3: "Hello! McFly!" The dialogue was truly uninspired. Perry seems very open to this future society and the society seems unconcerned with a savage running amok. Even if they believe him to be crazy, I would expect more concern, maybe some observation. I would at least check to see if the timeslip was repeatable and about to flood our world with chaotic personalities.
