Tess is cool. This book was so good in my humble opinion. I enjoyed reading it so much that I was sorry that it ended. I loved that Tess was smart and sure and quick. She was no simpering miss left swooning in a tower. She was a tough cookie who used her brain to get out of impossible situations. I love the whole premise that Tess was a "Decoy" for the real princess Contessa and enjoyed the irony that a beggers get had more queenly manners than the "real" queen. Then there are the men. Not just one obvious interest, but two. You can't help rooting for both of them but you know, 'in the end there can be only one'. The action is breath stopping and the sub plot of "players and pieces" interesting enough to keep me anticipating more books in this series from a talented author.

This was a great book. The action, political intrigue and charactesr all seemed to blend together inot one strong story. Even the unspecified male interest was handled well and kept the reader guessing as to who Tess will end up with.
